Dear Beloved in the Lord Jesus,
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor. 1:1-4). I pray that you are doing well and blessed in the Lord.
It is fitting to begin this letter with what I consider the “Comfort Letter” to the Christians in Corinth as we are still reeling from the death of a follow brother and a man of God, Charlie Kirk. The organization he founded as an 18-year-old, Turning Point USA, became a nationwide movement of conservative, mostly Christian young people who love our nation and hold the values of faith, family, and freedom. He is a martyr who has sparked a revival among people of every age, but especially young people, which I pray will grow with intensity until Jesus comes.
On the day of his death, Charlie stated in an interview that, more than anything else, he wished to be remembered for his faith in Christ. Following the assassination, I have reflected extensively on the elements of life that hold true significance and on the legacy I wish to leave behind. What really counts when I leave this life? Charlie only lived thirty-one short years, roughly the same age as Jesus. I have lived for more than twice that time. The longer I live the more I have to consider what really counted in my life. Enclosed is my piece on “Learning How to Count,” which I hope will encourage you to reflect on some important things. Be sure to read the white of the page (between the lines!). The two pages took me almost 4 days to write because of my aphasia. Before, I could write that much in a matter of a couple of hours. But God is good, and He helps me through it.
God blessed our trip to Guatemala at the beginning of September with 9 wonderful people. We constructed SEVEN “CASITAS,” the majority of which were designated for single-mother families. This was the largest group we have brought since my stroke 8 years ago! The team was such a blessing to me and to the precious families. In addition, we had 2 food distributions in needy villages. People were so incredibly grateful because food is so extremely expensive to the people there. I know you were praying for us that week because God blessed us at every turn.
Thank you so much for your dependable prayers and incredible support for DLEA. God is using you in a great way, touching little lives with the love of the Lord Jesus. Your investment in those lives makes an eternal difference. I pray God will continue to bless you in an abundant way. And as always, please pray often for me.
                                                                                                                    In His Service,
                                                                                                                    Danny
As I shared on the first page, we had wonderful trip at the first of the month. We were able to build 7 “casitas” with hardworking group of 9 people. It rained from time to time, but it did not hinder us at all. We were also able to buy bunk-beds for each family. As usual, the children were more excited about the beds than anything else. All but one of them were single mothers with small children. At the end of the week, we dedicated the “casitas” and prayed God’s blessing on each little family. There are always tears as we love one another.
We also had two massive food distributions that week. One of them was at our mission headquarters and the other one was in a nearby village we work in consistently. You know how dear it is to me to care for “orphans and widows in their trouble” (James 1:27) and we did that and more. I know that prices here in our country are high, seems like by the day. But at least we can adjust our budgets (no eating out, not buying things we can do without, etc.), but the people there, truly struggle to get something to eat. That is why they don’t mind standing in line to receive food.
All-in-all it was a great week with our wonderful team, our incredible staff, and YOU praying for and supporting DLEA so faithfully. We are looking forward to the rest of this year and praying for our DLEA Christmas Program and blessing as many families as possible with a Christmas that they would not have without our help. Many of you have supported this program in a special way so that of the poorest families can have a wonderful day of honoring the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you from the depths of my heart for partnering with us “for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Phil. 1:5). May God bless abundantly. Pray often for me.
